Rams News · Millikan Football’s Historic Season Ends

Ram Nation,

Well all great things must come to an end, I suppose… Unfortunately the Varsity Football team’s great year has ended. The Rams finished 9-3 on the season following their heartbreaking loss to Grace Brethren High School in the final minutes of the CIF D8 quarterfinals. Millikan had possession of the ball with under 5 minutes to go ahead 22-21. A staunch Grace Brethren defense and a penalty forced Millikan to punt on 4 downs. With less than 5 minutes to go, Grace Brethren marched down the field and scored the go ahead touchdown with 1:20 on the clock. Millikan had one last attempt at a miracle win, but was stifled. Millikan’s year was one for the books. Here is a quick list of the historic accomplishments of this team:

  1. Finished with 9 wins (only has happened 3 times in Millikan history)
  2. Hosted a playoff game (only has happened 3 times in Millikan history)
  3. Beat Lakewood and Wilson in the same season (Doesn’t happen much)
  4. Were 5-1 on the road

Not all is lost however, as the Rams have almost all of it’s offense coming back, and several key players on defense. First year head coach Justin Utupo has much to build with and we are all looking forward to another great year next year.
